Do we really love SVG?
Editor: The above question comes to mind when one looks at the unsightÂly, dirty environment seen after some secondary schools have their Sports Day. Parks are littered with all sorts of garbage â plastic bottles, containers, wrappers, and the list goes on.
Imagine teenagers, living in homes and attending schools where they should be learning and practising cleanliness, take pride in destroying the environment! Oh Lord! These students are the very ones who stand straight, hands to their sides, faces looking forward, and sing: âSt Vincent land so beautiful, with joyful hearts we pledge to thee…â They look so devout, dare I say, âworshipâ the country in the fervent manner that they sing, but then afterward, they show they do not mean a thing they sing in the anthem by their irresponsible behaviour in making the environment a most unpleasant sight, also making it more prone to diseases. So sad!
Students, and others who disrespect the environment, do you REALLY love St Vincent? God has created a scenic, breath-taking country, among others. Do we tell God âThanksâ by polluting the lands? Revelation 11:18 states that God will destroy all those who destroy the earth, which is Godâs footstool. Isaiah 66:1. Should we delight in âmashÂing upâ Godâs lovely footstool? The Devil and his demons smile when we do so, since they hate God and cleanliness.
Revelation 12:9, 12. Should we make the Devil and his demons happy? I can imagine God, His Son, and the holy angels shaking their heads, so to speak, in utter disgust when they see students, adults, etc littering the surroundings. Psalm 7:17; Luke 1:32; Matthew 16:16; Psalm 103:20. What a shame! People, letâs change our negative attitudes.
Stop littering! Practise cleanliness! Prove that we REALLY mean it when we say we love St Vincent and the Grenadines, a beautiful portion of Godâs footstool.
