Christians, wake up! Do not be a Jonah!

EDITOR: The recent spate of criminal activity in St Vincent and the Grenadines is a very grave cause for concern. Never in my lifetime have I before heard of four homicides in separate incidents within a four hour period, followed by another murder (the one at Victoria Park) less than 48 hours later.{{more}}

God has called us, Christians, to go out and evangelize the world. For the majority of us, our “world” is St Vincent and the Grenadines and each and every one of us need to do our part for the glory and honour of God. The blood of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour that was shed on the cross of Calvary was spilled out for the saving of all mankind. We cannot afford to sit back within the confines of a church building and be comfortable. Our commission given by Jesus Christ, our Lord is to “go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15

Are we content to be like the prophet Jonah?

In the Holy Bible, it is recorded thus: Jonah, Chapter 1:

“1 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah. the son of Amittai, saying,

2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.

3 But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.”

God gave Jonah a specific directive, but he ran away and was later found sleeping in the bottom of the ship. It is time that we, Christians, wake up and be obedient to the leading of the Lord, lest He also prepare a great fish to swallow us! It is time that we wake up and go out into the highways and byways and evangelize St Vincent and the Grenadines for Jesus. Remember, that is the reason why the Lord left us here after He saved us, TO BE HIS WITNESSES in a lost and dying world!

Christians, Wake up! Do not be a Jonah!
