The 1.34 million questions on the NDP’s election money
Editor: The Leader of the Opposition New Democratic Party (NDP), Arnhim Eustace, has finally and reluctantly acknowledged that the NDP received a whopping donation of EC$1.34 million dollars (US$500,000), 10 days or so before the last general elections of December 2015. In doing so, Eustace dragged every metaphoric red herring across the trail, in a sorry attempt to divert the peopleâs attention from the important questions at stake.{{more}}
Eustace is now required to answer truthfully, the following queries.
1. What is the name of the offshore company and who is the beneficial owner of this company?
2. Is the beneficial owner in any way connected to, or interested in, the NDP âeconomic citizenshipâ proposal of selling âSVG citizenship and passportsâ?
3. Is the beneficial owner of the offshore company connected to, in anyway, with âpassport sellingâ in any other Caribbean, or other country?
4. Given the fact that the NDP has a bank account at RBTT in SVG, why was it necessary to have âthe campaign contributorâ send the money to the lawyerâs account, at the same bank, and then have that lawyer transfer the money (in two tranches) to the NDPâs account?
5. Did the NDP make any promise to the beneficial owner of the offshore company, to be fulfilled, if the NDP won the elections? If so, what was the promise? Was it to grant exclusivity to the beneficial owner/campaign contributor to sell SVGâs citizenship and passports? Or, was it part of a sweet-heart deal for government lands at Chatham Bay, Spring in Bequia or Mt. Wynne?
6. Did this beneficial owner/campaign contributor involve itself in a range of dirty tricks in the last campaign against the ULP and itâs leader?
7. Why did no one else in the NDP camp know about this contribution?
8. Why was the NDP campaign starved of funds in the last days of the election campaign when it had a stash of money at the bank?
9. Is this campaign contributor still determined to help the NDP in unseating the ULP and destroying Ralph, so as to get its own way in SVG? Is this not NDPâs embrace of neo-colonialism and dancing with a foreign âdevilâ?
I have heard and read Eustaceâs response. I say simply: It is pure âBallsâ, at least to this juror, whom I believe speaks for SVG in this matter.
