CK Greaves went too far

Editor: I was completely appalled after reading about CK Greaves supermarket at Pembroke removing all the Searchlight Newspapers from their store because the newspaper actually reported that the manager of one of their stores was arrested at his home and charged for possession of marijuana.{{more}}

The Searchlight newspaper is really a wonderful newspaper, and it was perfectly right to report or print such a matter to the public, because that is the normal procedure when covering any particular crime or event.

The Searchlight newspaper, everyone definitely knows, were just doing their regular job in our society and there was apparently no reason whatsoever for CK Greaves to abandon them completely.

CK Greaves really needs to apologize to the Searchlight newspaper and then continue to sell the newspapers once again.

Editor’s note: Private sector companies have the right to choose with whom they do business. CK Greaves supermarket at Pembroke therefore owes Searchlight no apology. That being said, Searchlight resumed sale of its newspapers at that supermarket on Friday, August 19, after Searchlight was informed by a senior member of the parent company’s management team that the directive given to us was done without their knowledge and that sales could resume with immediate effect.
