Gun violence is really out of control

Editor: Please permit me a space in your column to express my views about the gun violence that is escalating in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

I must agree that the gun violence is really getting out of control, and basically needs to be addressed, because if the Government and the police don’t do something about it, then the tourist industry may eventually end up seriously affected.{{more}}

The Government and the police must get together to eradicate this serious problem in our society today, and they really should start by increasing the fines for gun possession, and much longer jail terms for persons basically involved in gun violence, along with more police patrols in areas seriously affected by gun violence.

The police department should also create a neighbourhood watch in many communities and also even get some really concerned citizens to volunteer as guardian angels.
