Unfortunately, many prefer to blame the Government and the Church, rather than presenting workable suggestions to help to address the problems. Indeed, each sector of society has a part to play. However, the real problem lies in the sinful heart of man and only Jesus Christ, through His Gospel, can effectively address it. Only God can fix us entirely.{{more}}

Cold-heartedness cannot be solved through plans and policies of the Government and other institutions. It is the Gospel, though often slighted and scoffed at, which is the single most effective ingredient that can fully deal with a mind bent on breaking the law. It addresses the source of man’s problem.

Thousands of years ago, Jesus Christ outlined what is evident before our eyes today. He tells us “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, MURDERS, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies… (Matthew 15:9). It follows therefore that the solution must address the problem at its root – the mind.

This solution, believe it or not, is practically presented in the Bible. It is the washing of the mind from sin by the word of God – the Gospel. The cure is of Divine origin and there is therefore no flaw in it. In Titus, it is also explained as salvation from sin through the “washing of regeneration, renewing of the Holy Ghost” and “being justified by His grace” (Chap. 3:5,7). Another of the LORD’s servants similarly describes it as the cleansing “from all your filthiness and from all your idols” – the giving of “a new heart and a new sprit” which motivates obedience to all the commandments of God including respect for our neighbours’ right to life. (Ezekiel 36:25-27)

You may wonder, “What must I do?” It is a call for you, young man (and everyone), to allow God to change your stony heart. There is no glory in portraying ‘bad man’, thuggish, ‘rude boy’ behaviour. Such behaviour is a sign of weakness, not of strength! Using force instead of reason is the height of cowardice. Use your brain to reason with your fellow human and put down the knives and guns! You need a mind change from God. Ask Him to live in your heart through His truths, that you would be able to love your fellowmen, including those who disagree with you. Help is presented to you today through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Let not the path of crime and violence, with its dire consequences, be an option!
