Rally behind Francis’ clean-up efforts

Editor: I was delighted to read of Minister Francis’ plans to clean up Kingstown. As an annual visitor to St Vincent and the Grenadines, I have been disappointed in the unappealing appearance of the area of Kingstown near the dock and some of the dirtiness in other parts of town. {{more}}I have seen other visitors with looks of disgust and even fear on their faces as they walked from the dock toward the main part of town, and some have even turned back from their venture into the shopping district because of their concerns.

For years I have said that if Kingstown is to prosper as a tourist destination, something must be done to make the tourists’ first impression a good one; without the clean-up Minister Francis is proposing, I don’t see how SVG’s tourism industry will grow as needed.

Kudos to the Minister, and I hope that the rest of the citizens and business men and politicians will get behind him, support him, and help him in this vitally important effort.
