The rise of false prophets – Beware!
Editor: The rise of false prophets, is it an assumption or a fact? In St Matthew 7:15: âBeware of false prophets, which come to you in sheepâs clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.â
We are seeing in this country many persons presenting themselves as prophets having a word from the Lord.{{more}} They would be prophesying and making predictions. Many persons have gravitated towards them and have believed in their prophesies. As a result many change religions and religious practices and beliefs.
In Hebrews 1:1,2 it is said: âGod, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.â
As we let the word of God speak we would realize that many things we are witnessing under the name of Christianity may be far from Christianity.
The Holy Spirit does not lie. Predications and word of prophesy, as we are seeing today by these individuals, are sometimes true and sometimes lie. Satan, we know, mixes truth with lies. Let us therefore be careful.
In someone is sent from God, there would be no guessing where some turn out to be true and some are not. On the other hand, doing miracles and proclaiming prophesies and predictions should not be done for money, quite the opposite of what we are seeing today.
It is important to note that as the Bible says in St Matthew 7:22,23,âMany will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name have cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.â The Lord, in his own time, will reveal the sheep from the goats.
