To my Labour family

Fri, Sep 26, 2014

Editor: To all my Labour friends, we know that elections are around the corner. I know you have no intention of supporting the NDP. However, I know that many of you are disgruntled and have issues with this beloved party. I want you, however, to think carefully of what it means to support the best party in the Caribbean, the ULP.{{more}}

It is understandable that many feel neglected and hurt by the party they love. Yet, because you are human, this can lead you to remain at home on election day and as a result you show little or no interest in what is going on. Thus your energy and motivation are no longer there. I can understand that feeling, having experienced it myself. However, think carefully of the consequences your action can cause.

If as part of the Labour family, you are disgruntled or neglected or even have issues with your current representative or caretaker, staying at home on election day can be detrimental. It can result in NDP forming government next elections, despite the hard work of the PM and others like Comrade Julian. Should you stay home and ULP lose the election, would you be satisfied? Would your needs that you wanted fulfilled be met? Would you be recognized and treated with love and open arms? Of course not.

An NDP government can spell disaster for this country, where our young people will then be hopeless, since there would be a cutback in every sector, both in education and employment. When you stay at home and the NDP forms government, would you be able to live with yourself to see the NDP make a mess of this country, where workers are being sent home, the international airport comes to a halt, where poverty increases and where the big shots of NDP will be eating from the table, while you and your children can’t even eat the crumbs that fall from the table.

In closing, it is important that the ULP representatives and caretakers take on board the cries of its members. I urge them to take care of their members and don’t take them for granted. After all, they are humans too and they have needs and a family to feed. Make them happy and they would love you and work for you. For we know that when a family is happy, they would defend and protect the family.

I would encourage the Labour family to think about their children and their future. An NDP government can deny your children a good education and a bright future. So, come on, both ULP members and the candidates, let us work together to ensure that this party return to office, not by a one seat majority, but by a massive margin. LABOUR FOREVER, NDP NEVER.
