Open letter to the Prime Minister
Fri, Jul 11, 2014
Mr Prime Minister Sir,
Since assuming office as Prime Minister you have been much talked about, locally, regionally and internationally. For some, you are the best Prime Minister this country has ever seen, while for some, you are the wickedest Prime Minister this country has ever seen.{{more}} The almighty Lord will, however, be the judge of your reign both as PM and as an individual.
The latest distribution of laptops to schoolchildren is indeed very commendable. However, Sir, since schools are now on vacation, would it not have been better that the distribution be done at the beginning of the new school year, since the purpose of the laptops is educational? The distribution of the laptops at this time gives cause for speculation. The laptops would be used in the vacation period and learning from previous experience, many of the laptops would be taken advantage of and abused. So, there is a possibility that at the start of the new school year many of the laptops might be already damaged.
Another thing, Sir, I cannot for the life of me agree with you to give 700 teachers (if my memory serves me right) free smart phones. There are many teachers in this modern age that have smart phones. What really is the purpose of giving these phones when phones are not allowed to be used in the classrooms? Could not the money spent for these phones be used for something else of importance? I realize it is a donation, but I am certain that you, being a smart person, could have got something in its place rather than smart phones.
Word on the ground is that the âship is sinkingâ, it would seem. For there are many ULP diehards grumbling and are threatening to stay home come next elections. It is said that they are neglected over the NDP. They are not saying that the NDP supporters must not get, but to neglect the ULP supporters over the NDP has made many unhappy. There should be fair distribution.
Some say you are a âtoffeeâ for those same NDP supporters who are enjoying the benefits, while many ULP supporters are given a run around and are turning around and cussing you. No wonder they plan to eat you out and vote you out. If such a day should arrive, hmmm, trust me, many workers would have to pack their bags and go. If you donât believe me, ask Dr Linton Lewis and the Hon Arnhim Eustace.
Thank you, Sir, for your time.
Kennard King
