When we live godly lives God will bless this nation
Editor: Proverbs 14: 34 tells us that, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any peopleâ. Can we really say that this country is upholding righteousness? Or can we say that this country is righteous?{{more}}
I know there are many things that can be classified as unrighteous practice in this country of ours. However, since it is Carnival time and it is almost to the end of the season, I want to focus a bit on the Carnival and its unrighteousness.
Can it be truly said that this nation is a righteous nation when, in the name of culture, our children are allowed to parade in a half naked way in the streets publicly? Can we really say that we are practising righteous living when, as a people, we are promoting through Carnival songs, the heavy use of alcohol and free for all wining and sexual looseness?
It would be interesting if a survey is taken to see how many of these children who are involved in the Kiddiesâ Carnival do go to Sunday school. Of course we must never leave out the parents who support and carry their kids to these Carnival activities. I am wondering how many of these parents do ensure that their kids attend Sunday School and go to church. Of course, the excuse is that they donât have clothes because they cannot afford to buy church clothes, yet they can buy costumes. Also there would always be many excuses for not sending and bringing the children to Sunday School and church.
So tell me, how can we progress satisfactorily when we allow the practice of unrighteous to increase? How can we progress as a nation if God is given little importance in our lives and we only know him when we are in trouble? Donât we realize that when we live godly lives God will bless this nation and whereas when we live ungodly lives then, as a people, we would be reproached and thus we would lack the progress we should have.
I, therefore, call upon this nation to turn to God and let the Spirit of God prevail in its entirety in this nation. For only when as a people we practise righteousness that we would be blessed by God in many ways and, on the other hand, if we, as a people, allow sin to reign in this nation, then this nation would suffer in many ways.
May God help us to live godly lives and receive his blessings and not his condemnation and punishment, for God is holy and cannot withstand sin. Let us give him our lives and seek to please him in the way we live. Thank you.
