You need to read your Bible!

Editor: I refer to a letter entitled “Re-examine God’s True Identity” by “A Matter of Serious Concern,” published in your newspaper of May 30, 2014.

A Matter of Serious Concern, you must be reading something other than the Bible to come to your conclusions. You said “Jesus himself NEVER claimed to be God…” (emphasis yours).{{more}} Have you not read in John 5:18 “Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.” They understood his claim, every time he was calling himself the son of God, He was making Himself equal with God.

Have you not read in John 10: 30-33 “I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” They understood his claim, and they were going to stone him because He claimed equality with God. If ever there was a chance to end the confusion, here it was, with an angry crowd, with stones, ready to stone Him because He claimed to be God. Just keep reading, and in John 10:38 – 39 “But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand.” They would have stoned Him if they could, but he escaped. But they understood his claim. He understood what they accused Him of. They were there. Here you are, about 2,000 years later, and you say He NEVER claimed to be God.
