Building and maintaining relationships
EDITOR: We are seeing far too many divorces and hearing of too many conflicts that occur in relationships which sometimes end up tragically.{{more}}
I will attempt, however, to give some important points to build and maintain a relationship. This, I hope, will help strengthen relationships.
Like any building there must be a foundation. Thus, in any relationship, the foundation must be CHARITY. Many persons go into a relationship without this important foundation. When they do, it surely would crumble, since the foundation is shaky.
To build on the foundation you need COMMUNICATION. This is a very important building block. Communication would involve both compliments and criticism. Far too many times in any relationship there are seldom compliments. There is more often criticism than there are compliments.
Another important ingredient in maintaining the relationship is COMPROMISE. In compromise each partner at some point has to give in. Far too often each partner wants to be right and not willing to give in. When this occurs there are oftentimes conflicts, which lead to arguments and sometimes fighting.
Finally, due to the limited space, I would mention just the last building block and that is COMMITMENT. In many marriages, the simplest of things often causes separation and eventually divorce. There seems to be no commitment to work things out and remain married until death doeth part. Problems will occur in any relationship, but there must be commitment by both partners to work things out and stay together.
We can have healthy relationships. We can live together peacefully and remain together. Even in normal working relationships and other relationships we can have solutions and our differences can be worked out. What we need is to apply these blocks to our relationships and let the LORD guide us and help us.
