The president and members share concerns for the islands which were affected by the severe weather conditions and which caused torrential rains to pour down itâs wrath on Christmas Eve night. The entire St Vincent and the Grenadines was suddenly overwhelmed and shocked by the onslaught of widespread destruction to properties, businesses and loss of life.
To our sister Norma Knights whose business sustained tremendous damage, we empathize with you and you are assured of our prayers.
Soroptimist International St Vincent and the Grenadines, in keeping with our mandate, is mindful of the less fortunate, especially in this time of disaster.
We extend condolences to all the families who have lost loved ones and particularly to the James and Nanton family, in which case the lives of children were lost. We are aware that the road to reconstruction of property and infrastructure will be a long and extremely difficult one for the entire nation.
The organisation joins the Government and people of St Vincent and the Grenadines in appealing to our sisters and brothers locally, regionally and internationally to grant what ever help is possible at this time. Everyone must assist, as we seek to mobilize and use our initiative in this national effort.
May God continue to bless us all.
Gail Davis
President, Soroptimist International
St Vincent & the Grenadines
(SISVG).
