PM Gonsalves, no mamaguy is necessary

Fri Jan 03, 2014

Editor: Mr PM of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr Ralph Gonsalves, you have it completely wrong. The PM of Trinidad and Tobago(T&T), did not use her personal funds to send help to the people of St Vincent. The aid came from the taxpayers of T&T. So, if you insist on naming a village in thanks of the aid you received, name the village after T&T. May I suggest “Trinbagoville.”{{more}}

Do not repeat a mistake. Patrick Manning also used taxpayers’ money, but he was a man of impeccable moral standards and led a government of the same high moral values. Incidentally, I have the pleasure of living among people who came directly from St Vincent, and their descendants. They are hard-working and dutifully pay their taxes here. They also repatriate money and goods to St Vincent. The bottom line is that Vincentians living in T&T contributed to the aid you got.

Eventually, the US Government will have to provide directly, or indirectly, all the help you need to rebuild your country. Will you name a village after Obama? Dr Ralph Gonsalves is this “mamaguy” really necessary?
