Poor judging? Or…..?

Editor: I donât know how many persons had the pleasure of watching or listening to the seven talented youngsters who took part in the Courts OECS reading competition but I certainly did.{{more}}
To all of these children, you were certainly a winner for making it that far!!! But I cannot keep inside what I and many others who attended the competition thought was poor judging or just plain bias. Yes, all of the youngsters did well and I myself had a family member taking part, but when I saw little miss KPS doing her reading, there was no doubt that that child should have been given first place; not even my family member did I have in front of her. I would agree that RC School deserved to place, but not first place, and how could they not place Petersville School?
Judges, the public expected better of you with your years of service in education, and the Ministry of Education should look into this. Sponsors, you yourself need to ensure that your prizes are distributed to the rightful owners. Courts, you as the main sponsor need to ensure fairness!!!!
Can we in SVG no longer undertake fair judging, where the points are not openly gained, like in sports for instance? Before you undertake poor judging, think of the demotivation you are instilling in the competitors and the fact that parents would be reluctant to have their children take part in anything competitive!!!
Many of our winners are expected to represent SVG in some way and we need to remember that!!! If RC for any reason cannot represent SVG, can we really send a child with poor diction and who struggled to read her news article to represent us? I think not!!!!!!!!!
