Let us connect our Vincy Dots!

Tue, Jun 26. 2012

Editor: I would like to thank everyone who came out to the 101st GHS lecture in May/12 and who listened via radio or watched on TV. The topic delivered was “Re-draining the brain” or in another words “Reversing Brain Drain”. It was an incredible experience and the overwhelmingly positive feedback seemed to me to indicate a hunger in us all for positive dialogue and actions in our beloved nation.{{more}} I was particularly impressed by the fact that all levels of the society appeared to have watched or listened to the lecture. It demonstrated to me the hunger for something different, a new energy, a new hope, and my only regret was in having to return to the brain drain community. It renewed my own faith in my homeland and I was and remain a simple, proud Vincy. One of the positive feedback areas was that I was relaying survey results which reflected what everyone thinks or feels, but often is afraid to say out loud and many people thanked me for this openness. I feel providing this openness is something we all need to provide more of in our daily lives, in a constructive fashion, towards the establishment and execution of shared, strategic development goals. I thank everyone who participated in the survey, either formally or informally. Your input was invaluable in the delivery of this lecture topic. Of course, my biggest compliment was that my Vincy accent remains with me after many brain drain years abroad!

Let us continue to look for all our opportunities to connect our Vincentian dots, within a Vincentian, Caribbean and Global context. Let us always hold hands, my brothers and sisters. I thank you for the renewed confidence in our homeland’s future. I thank you for the positive feedback and new networking opportunities for personal and professional advancement, as we continue to hold hands in true Caribbean unity. Hats off to the GHS Lecture Committee for organizing an event that continues to raise the bar for Vincentian society as a whole!

Let us connect our Vincy dots, as Mr Oscar Allen says, “…outside of the political tribes, inside the future.”
