Anesia, what if?
Fri, Apr 27. 2012
Editor: It comes as no surprise that Anesia Baptiste was dismissed as a Senator after sending that eleven-page letter to the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Arnhim Eustace. If Anesia is a rational thinking person, she should have seen it coming. Mr Eustaceâs action is justified.{{more}} The only problem I see, if he had not informed her personally, I disagree. He should have had sufficient gall and inform her face to face.
Anesia has really been vilified and castigated by all and sundry, from all sides. This leaves me to wonder why we do crucify others with so much energy, even when it is no big thing and no crisis. People join; leave; get dismissed; from parliament and from political parties all over, all the time. Those who are capable will survive. Many of us must learn to leave the politicians to work out their squabbles and see where we can learn valuable lessons.
At this juncture, I feel there are some who are asking like me, âWhat if?â Could it be that Anesia may have suffered childhood or other woes that have affected her, like so many of us? Something seems wrong with her psyche. As a woman, I am really sympathetic to her. I just wish that she can take counsel, and also obtain needed help to overcome what her problems are. She claims to be a Christian and I know those who follow can really obtain help here.
I spot that she is well intentioned, but appears not to have captured the wherewithal to realize her true potential. She is still young and maybe as a consequence she comes across too arrogant, appears too swellheaded and needs to simmer down. It is said that âexperience is a perfect teacherâ, and that âage brings honour.â
In my humble opinion, letting her go from the party will not do her much good and will also create a further gender imbalance. Women need more voice than two in Parliament. If Anesia is given the opportunity, with time, she will make an excellent, much needed politician, putting partisanship aside. Let us not overlook the fact that she is a good cheerleader who whipped up much support for the No Vote campaign. Any side can use her expertise to its advantage, putting her weaknesses aside. We all have our challenges.
As a woman, I look forward with interest to see what will be the outcome and her next move. Stop the crucifying and let us bring some balance to this debate.
