Responding to ‘In Christ – Romaklok’
07.JUNE.11
Editor: In one of last weekendâs newspapers, Romaklok referred to the Jehovahâs Witnesses, among others, as false prophets, since according to Romaklok, they had wrong expectations.{{more}} However, I ask: Does having a wrong expectation necessarily make one a false prophet? Well Sir, please consider these Scriptural occurrences.
1. Read John 21:22, 23. Due to Jesusâ statement in verse 22, Verse 23 shows that the disciples misunderstood Jesus and they wrongly spread the idea among the brethren (brothers) that the apostle John shall not die. Did those disciples of Jesus become false prophets because of spreading a false idea?
2. Read Acts 1:6, 7. Here the apostles asked Jesus if he was going to restore the Kingdom to Israel at that time. Jesus corrected them.
Did the apostles become false prophets because they had a wrong expectation as indicated by their question?
3. Read 1 Chronicles 17:1-4. Godâs prophet Nathan, encouraged David to carry out his heartâs desire to build a house for the âark of the covenantâ. Nathan even said to David: âDo all that is in thine heart; for GOD IS WITH THEEâ. So Nathan indicated to David that he had Godâs backing to build the house. However, verses 3 & 4 show that God corrected Nathan, telling him to go and tell David that he will not build the house. Nathan did so. (1 Chronicles 17:15) Did Nathan become a false prophet because he wrongly spoke in Godâs name in encouraging David to build the house?
So âIn Christ-Romaklokâ, if, as you say, Jehovahâs Witnesses had wrong expectations, this does NOT prove that they are false prophets. As mentioned above, the apostles & disciples, also Godâs prophet Nathan, had wrong expectations too. Yet they were NOT classified as false prophets. I must also say that in my personal, humble observations, Jehovahâs Witnesses as a religious group, appear to be following the example of Jesus and the early Christians (apostles & disciples) very well in their preaching and good conduct. Read Matthew 24:14; Luke 4:43; Luke 10:1; Acts 1:8; Acts 5:42; 1 Peter 2:12.
