Strong political wind of change

Editor: Kindly permit me a space in your weekly newspaper to share my views. I have been driving towtrucks for the past 12 years, and I am quite familiar with almost every village and town in this beautiful country St. Vincent.{{more}}

Anyone that knows me personally can testify that I enjoy “chit-chatting”, so I most recently discussed politics and the next upcoming general elections 2010/2011 with a lot of people in St. Vincent.

In my most humble opinion, after carefully analyzing the whole political situation in this country, I have no other alternative than to come to this jokingly and yet quite serious conclusion.

Hon. Ralph Gonsalves and his ULP reign of political power in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be coming to an end very soon, and other persons throughout this country can definitely agree that they hear, see and feel – the strong political wind of change.

This end of the ULP political power is similar to watching a lovely game of cricket on the television. Let me briefly explain how this game is being played.

Hon. Ralph Gonsalves and his ULP team are presently at the crease batting and they have just played a very dangerous shot (The National Commercial Bank) which is one too many. They have already made a first run (1st term) and a second run (2nd term). However in their desperation to make a third run (3rd term) they have already been run-out impressively by the remarkable fielding of the NDP lead by the Hon. Arhim Eustace.

Most of us West Indians know that when you are watching a game of cricket on the television and a batsman has just been run-out short of his crease, sometimes it happens so fast that the decision is based on the 3rd umpire replay. To make a long story short, it is quite evident that Ralph Gonsalves and his unscrupulous ULP team has already been run-out short of their political crease by the impressive fielding team of Arnhim Eustace and the NDP.

In conclusion, what the Hon. Ralph Gonsalves and his ULP are waiting on now is the authoritative confirmation of the 3rd umpire who incidently is on the election date (whenever) and also the electorate (the blessed people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines).

An advance welcome and congratulations to the Hon. Arnhim Eustace and his NDP team for their well deserved turn at the political batting crease of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

As the great singing reggae legend Jimmy Cliff song says “Time Will Tell” only the almighty heavnly God knows.
