I am fed up with the NDP

Editor: Like many traditional supporters of the NDP, I am totally fed-up with this party. Over the past month, as the ULP ramped up its public activities, the NDP is faltering; it is shooting itself. The NDP’s Leader, Arnhim Eustace, is clearly not in charge; the party looks ragged and disorganized.{{more}}

From the platform, there is emptiness and foot-in-mouth disease. Sir James Mitchell is too loose with his tongue and offended christians with his “don’t even trust Jesus Christ” statement. Burton Williams then talked rubbish about “parson christening their pickney first” as the NDP’s employment policy. St. Clair Leacock has been behaving badly on the campaign trail. Daniel Cummings has been lying about the Attorney General’s mortgage payments, and Eustace’s dumb call for her resignation is based on this falsehood. Dinky Balcombe is removed as a candidate to run against the Prime Minister.

This removal of Balcombe was engineered through the leadership of Newton George. George was bold enough to write a letter on the subject in Searchlight on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. Everyone in North Central Windward knows that George has no influence whatsoever; in fact, he is an embarrassment to the NDP rank-and-file, but apparently not to Eustace. Ralph is in his gleeful element with talk that Dinky was removed through the influence of a man who was in and out of jail for 30 years between 1973 and 2003 for housebreaking, larceny and theft.

What the hell is happening to the NDP which I supported all the years under the leadership of Sir James? In the upcoming elections I will be voting ULP for the international airport, the laptops, the Education Revolution, and its foreign policy. In 2015 I may go back to the NDP when there is a new and better leader and some younger, more serious candidates. NDP needs another term in opposition to sort itself out. It is a pity that Sir James cannot return; he is 79 years old, a little out of sorts, and in any case the candidates are very weak. Further, the current NDP has no vision or policies for our nation.
