Kingsley, why don’t you leave Miss ‘B’ alone?

Fri, Sept 3, 2010

EDITOR: I am the Chairman of the ULP West Kingstown Constituency Council. Before holding this office, I worked for my party all around. I have worked with Miss Baptiste for more than 10 years, and this Lady is not only a Great Minister of Government, she is a GOOD Representative, a GOOD person and a very GOOD woman.{{more}}

Let me lay out to you HOW she provided REPRESENTATION:

  • She provided books and uniforms, in addition to the lot from Welfare before 2001, and since then, including printing her own exercise books

  • She provided personal help for persons with health problems
  • She provided wheelchairs, walkers and crotches for constituents (separate from Rotary)
  • She provided Christmas party and toys for children in the constituency
  • She started and supports Community organisations (1) Largo Height Community Development Organisation (LHCDO) (2) Urban League at Edinboro, (3) Ottley Hall Development Organisation (OCDO), and revived Lowman Community Development Organisation (LCDO) 2008
  • She got light and water for countless constituents
  • She got the Land price moved from NDP $3.00 per sq ft to ULP price of $1.75 per sq ft
  • She sent workers to Canada and Louisiana from among us
  • She put the First Traffic Wardens on the Road in SVG. She created this activity
  • She provided an Office for the group Urban League in Edinboro
  • She put light in Buddy Gutter and Cedar Valley
  • She found a building in Largo Height for a Community Office

  • She had to ‘FIGHT’ for the West Kingstown Learning Resource Center
  • She sent constituents on the TABOO RESORTS HOSPITALITY TRAINING Programme in Canada
  • She partnered with the Police and Urban League in the Anti-Crime Campaign
  • She built small roads in Lowmans and Ottley Hall
  • She “adopted” 14 children – providing their school needs and saw them through secondary school
  • She visited whenever disaster struck with organized help
  • She gave a Special Award to ‘Alicia Franklyn of Largo Height for her Double Achievement – at Junior Soca Monarch and 2nd place in Calypso
  • She attended every single CAP opening and closing, with 1 exception
  • She looked after the Fire Victims mainly from her personal resources
  • She got the Land for Campden Park Baptist Church
  • She gave the Inter-Constituency Summer Cricket Play-Off with ALL TROPHIES
  • She sponsored Netball and Football in Rose Place
  • She ‘raised up’ the First Police Officer from Rose Place
  • She made sure Largo Height has a real Playing Field
  • She gave Christmas Cakes to all the Wards & Departments at Christmas time – Milton Cato Memorial Hospital is in West Kingstown
  • She sponsored Netball & Football in Edinboro and Ottley Hall
  • She provided a Fridge, a stove, baking utensils, mugs, ironing board and iron to the Female Prisons at Fort Charlotte
  • She provided the Annual Tea Party for Mothers on Mother’s day
  • She provided an Annual Tea Party & get together for Fathers on Father’s day
  • She provided computers and printers for Kingstown Anglican School and Lowmans Leeward Anglican School

  • She, as a “Bad Representative”, provided support to “OTHER” constituents from nearby.

  • She finances all Constituency Fund Raising Events
  • She gets jobs for many constituents and promotes them
  • She always supports the Women’s Arms Events and her Youth Arm Events as well – and even organized an 8 ‘man’ Pan side of Women in West Kingstown
  • She pays all constituency van transportation, unless the party picks it up for all constituencies.

Yes, Kingsley, West Kingstown has won Trophies for the Largest Contingent at National Conventions, National Councils, Women’s Arm Conventions over the years since Miss B. is there. You wouldn’t know, because you NOT there!!!

Yes, Kingsley, every road she requested repairs and maintenance for, she has a written record of it and she regularly discusses with her Constituency Executive.

So, don’t blame Miss Baptiste for all sorts of things, don’t put any bad label in her. We know it is unfair and unjust and malicious. Remember, the pundits said she could not win the Seat in 2001 and that was ‘written off’ in 2005. Don’t forget that Miss B. actually INCREASED her votes. God is NOT like Man.

He knows the TRUTH, and many of us know the truth as well, but some of us will continue to DENY the Truth. WE APPRECIATE HER Sacrifice, but as usual, some of us forget so quickly and so conveniently.

Kingsley, you must watch your TV carefully and check where you see her – In the Ministry and Constituency, and make a record. Don’t do the ‘hear say’ thing. Honour to whom honour is due.

Fred Stay, Chairman
ULP – West Kingstown Constituency Council
