Let election debate be about issues
Editor: I read with great interest, Jomo Thomasâ column (titled: âElections Loom Large) in a recent issue of another local newspaper.
My comments (below) are not about Jomo.{{more}} For as much as I have loved and respected him since the early 70s, lately, I have become disappointed with many of Jomoâs political actions and utterances.
My comments are not about the Unity Labour Party (ULP) or the New Democratic Party (NDP). My comments are about Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and the continued progress and development of our great country.
I find Arnhim Eustace and the NDP absolutely crazy and/or dotish to âbegâ Vincentians to return them (NDP) to office to resume their 17 years of mismanagement, victimisation and corruption, which Vincentians voted to end on March 28, 2001.
I find James Mitchell and the NDP to be damn crazy and/or dotish to plead with Vincentians – using lies, deception and talk of âcorruptionâ and âcommunismâ – to encourage Vincentians to turn their backs on a government headed by Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, that delivered in every area of governance to improve the lives of ALL Vincentians. Why the hell should we vote NDP so Son Mitchell may return to insult us.
In this troubling period since 9/11, SARS, the global economic crisis, etc. The ULP has outperformed every other government in the region.
Would Vincentians want to turn their backs on this ULP government? Why would Vincentians want to choose corruption and mismanagement over sound vision, growth and development? Gonsalves and the ULP have developed a most progressive foreign policy. This policy which make us âfriend of all and enemy of noneâ has greatly benefited our people and country?
The people will decide. But first let the people be put in the position to make informed decisions. Letâs run this election campaign on issues and not personalities.
Peace and Love!!!
