Dead among students at Georgetown Secondary

Tue, Jul 20, 2010

EDITOR: I am a concerned parent who has children attending the Georgetown Secondary School.

I will like to know who and why it has been authorised for the dead to be churched at the school’s auditorium.{{more}}

It started first when a student who used to attend the school died. He was churched there and in my view I don’t see this as much of a problem, seeing that he used to attend the school.

Since then, about five more persons (dead) have been churched there; persons with no attachments whatsoever to the school. It seems as if it is becoming a norm and I am most irritated about it.

Why is this not happening at other schools in the country? Could there be any health risk in this? For example; a dead might be churched at the school on Sunday, no one cleans/disinfect the area before school on Monday, where the same area is being used for praise.

Mind you, I am highly respectful of the dead but I strongly think the dead belongs to a church NOT A SCHOOL.

I am calling on the relevant ministries (Education and Health) to look into this matter seriously because our students can be highly exposed to any toxic and/or contaminants related to the dead.

I am desperately counting on you.

Concerned!!!
