Where are we going?

Tue, Jul 13, 2010

Editor: Where are we heading as a nation? This is indeed a sobering question. The carnival song that was criticized as being indecent was played daily on the radio stations, in many homes, bars, vans and on sidewalks.{{more}} Yet that same song was made the Road March song for 2010. So tell me where are we heading as a nation? We dressed our girls in the shortest possible skirts and let them parade in bands and on stage. Where is the decency? What guidance are we giving our children? Indeed I wonder where we are heading as a nation.

We slander and backbite each other. How can we move on? The authorities have closed their minds to the vulgarity of some shows that are staged, all in the name of entertainment. Moral uprightness and decency is a scarce commodity. I wonder where we are heading as a nation.

Children are allowed to go to dances and drink alcohol and use drugs. Tell me where are we heading as a nation? We have turned Sunday into a day of entertainment and sports and forget about church and Sunday schools. Moral values have been replaced by material things and sex. So tell me where are we heading as a nation?

The way we are heading is on the wrong path away from God. Let us be reminded that the Bible says that “righteous exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any man.” Thus for this nation of ours to progress, we have to get back to God and love and honour him. The politicians can not make this country better. It is when we are heading in God’s direction, then he will bless us. For if we fail to put God first in our lives we can not as a nation move on in the right way.

I urge us to be true to God and live for him and return to be the home of the blessed, Hairouna. It is time to head back home, ladies and gentlemen.
