Drivers totally fed up with gaping potholes

20.FEB.09

Editor: The conditions of the road on the Leeward side of the island continue to be in a deplorable condition. The large potholes are getting larger and deeper.{{more}}

We know that monies are available to have these holes dealt with, having heard the Prime Minister making mention of the potholes in the road and he wanting the holes fixed. Yet, surprisingly, we are not seeing anything done.

In the meantime, the vehicle owners continue to suffer as their vehicles are driven daily on these roads. The damage that is done to the vehicles costs money, and so it makes it difficult to maintain.

Almost daily, tourists travel on these roads as they journey to Richmond and other tourist areas on the Leeward side of the island. What impression are we giving to the tourists? Does anyone care?

It is regrettable that nothing is heard as to why the roads are in this condition. One is left to wonder how long will it be before something is done. In the meantime, the patience of the vehicle owners is running out.

I trust that something is done quickly to avoid further damage to vehicles.

Thank you.
