The Word of God and its importance

12.SEPT.08
Editor: The importance of the Word of God can never be overstated. It has been a source of inspiration to thousands, if not millions, over the years. It has kept many of us on the straight and narrow path. Indeed, nothing can replace it.{{more}}

We are seeing in this country a rise in crimes of a different nature. As we try to understand the causes of these violent crimes, there are many things that can be associated with them. As we try desperately to find answers to solve this rise in crime, they are few things that come to mind.

One is the Word of God: the prison authorities must be complimented for allowing devotions to be held in the prison on a daily basis. This I would encourage the authorities to continue to have and even increase the Word of God presented to these prisoners. I would hope we would never reach the point in this blessed country of ours where the Word of God is taken out of our schools, other institutions and the prisons. For if we do that, how can the prisoners be reformed? True reformation comes from the heart. And only the Word of God can truly reform a person.

We need to put away from us strange gods. We need as a nation to return to the Word of God and value it as an important part of our lives. But how can crimes be reduced when criminals are aided by relatives and maybe friends who will seek to be involved in iniquity so as to ensure that the person who commits the crime is set free. How can crimes be reduced when those who commit crimes are made to feel they are innocent?

It is time that we return to the Lord and His Word and remove from our heart the anger and revenge. It is time to seek the Lord. For only the Lord Jesus Christ can truly bring an end to these violent crimes.

Politicians can not. Stop placing the blames on different things for the rise in crimes. We need to admit that the heart of man is set on doing evil. For it is wicked.

Therefore, let us as a nation return to God and give our lives to Christ and we will see a drastic reduction of the crimes in our nation.
