Shame on you Scakes, shame on you!

Editor: The last verse of the first calypso performed by Vibrating Scakes at Dimanche Gras confirmed a theory I have held for many years. The hypocrisy exhibited by many of the older men in our society is largely to be blamed for under achievement in our young men and boys. The older men say one thing and do the complete opposite.{{more}}
Our calypso monarch, a veteran in the business, penned and masterfully performed a piece called the challenge which lamented the predicament facing the young males of our species, and the things in society that contribute to their malaise. Then in the twinkling of an eye, in the very same rendition, he added a verse which launched a broadside on young rising stars Bomani and Skarpyan, and their mentors.
Just a year or two ago, the cry everywhere was that âcalypso is dying; where are young people; the youngsters are only singing soca, not calypso.â Now that an effort is being made to encourage the young performers to go back to their calypso roots, you get the very people who should be taking them under their wing, trying to discourage them and putting stumbling blocks in their way.
Scakes, shame on you. As a father of boys and an educator, shame on you!
