Hats off to Barrouallie Government School
15.JUN.07
Editor: It is with a great sense of pride and joy that I write on behalf of the executive of the Parent Teacher Association of the Barrouallie Government School to congratulate the staff and students on their excellent performance in this yearâs common entrance exams. To have placed in the top ten overall is indeed an achievement which warrants mention.{{more}}
Who says that there arenât dedicated teachers and disciplined students anymore?
Who says that students lack the will to excel because they will be placed in a secondary school anyway?
Who says that as a school, you need not cover the students in your care under the blood of the lamb?
Well, the students of the Barrouallie Government School have proven them wrong. Those students can be proud because they have placed their school in the history books of St.Vincent and the Grenadines with thirty nine quality passes.
Under the guidance of their hardworking teachers from Grade K through to Grade 6, immediate past principal Mrs Caroline Rawlins and present principal Ms Vedette Bulze and some concerned parents these children have exposed to the world that hard work brings success.
It must also be mentioned that these children were the first group to have benefited from the Caribbean Centre of Excellence for Teacher Training reading programme (CCETT), a programme sponsored by USAID.
The facilitators and by extension the Ministry of Education can therefore feel a sense of satisfaction that this is a wonderful project and must be sustained. We are reaping dividends.
To the students, my advice to you is to continue working hard. The journey has only just begun. Keep focused and put God in the centre of your life and donât forget to pray.
Teachers, keep on keeping on. Let this result be your motivation to continue doing your best no matter what the odds may be against you.
Ms Principal, continue to carry out your duties without fear or favour, and when faced with the challenges, look up, God is looking down.
Parents, your children are your investments, but your net worth will only increase if extra care is taken to nurture them in the right way. The onus is on you to instill the virtues of disipline, honesty, hardwork and respect so that they can continue to make you proud.
To the rest of the student body, let your motto be your guide, âTo build in unity with discipline and hard work to bring success.â Continue to build on your strengths and improve on your weaknesses. Do not be satisfied with mediocrity, manage your time wisely, make use of free education, continue to pray and trust in God and you will be rewarded.
Pearlette Primus Hannaway,
President of the Barrouallie Government School PTA.
