Sailing Week organisers looking ahead to better things for 2027
Event Director of Sailing Week 2026, Aina Browne, in expressing some of the challenges faced during the hosting of this year’s activities, highlighted the wind, which she said played an integral part in some of the races not being completed.
Browne said, unfortunately, because of the wind, they were unable to have Double Enders competing on the final day (Monday) and were unable to complete the “extensive route” on Sunday also because of the wind.
“Of course, that is a big disappointment to the locals and some of our visitors who possibly wanted to experience the double ender sailing. So I would say that is one of our biggest challenges that we didn’t get to complete the full plan activities for the event,” Browne said.
Going forward they plan to have consultations with stakeholders to see how they will can better serve them, and how they can help to alleviate whatever challenges they may experience.
