Mespo man fined $890 for cannabis possession and trafficking
A man from Mesopotamia who admitted to illegally possessing and trafficking cannabis to earn money so he can surprise his toddler for her birthday, was fined a total of $890.
Chinglee Dick, 31, appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Colin John, on March 23,2026 where he pleaded guilty that on March 20, 2026 at the Kingstown main port he had in his possession 2,119 grammes of cannabis with intent to supply it to another; and for the purpose of drug trafficking. Cannabis is a controlled drug.
The facts are that on the date in question at about 9:30 a.m, Cpl 340 DaSouza was on duty at the entrance Gate 14 (lower gate) security checkpoint of the main Kingstown port conducting searches on motor vehicles taking cargo to the motor vessels being taken to the various Southern Grenadines islands.
While there, the police corporal observed a white Nissan car driven by Dick entering the compound through gate 14. He ordered the driver to stop, and Dick complied.
