UWI Educator recommends tangible works from ‘History of SVG’ publication
UNIVERSITY OFTHE West Indies (UWI) Lecturer, Dr. Henderson Carter is calling on Vincentian creatives to bring SVG’s history to life through drawings, museums, plays, podcasts, movies and documentaries.
On Friday, March 20, 2026, the second publication in Volume One of the book, ‘St.Vincent and the Grenadines: A General History to theYear 2025’ was launched at The UWI Global Campus, Frenches.
During the launch, Dr. Henderson, a lecturer in the Department of History and Philosophy at The UWI Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, who moderated a discussion involving the authors, made reference to several pages, including page 25 of the publication where there is a photograph of solidified rock with a table illustrating the 18 different recorded rock art sites across SVG.
“For me, this is significant because a budding artist could visit these places… draw from these rock art pieces and of course, present their work in public.”
Dr. Carter said that beyond the artwork, there is an opportunity to do heritage tours for both locals and visitors from cruise ships.
