History of SVG sold out at Launch
The launch of Volume One of ‘St.Vincent and the Grenadines: A General History to the Year 2025’ was well received by the Vincentian public as almost 300 books were sold before the launch was over.
A total of 155 copies of Volume one entitled, ‘Native Peoples, Genocide, and African Enslavement in St Vincent and the Grenadines was sold out on March 20, 2026 when it was launched at the University of the West Indies Global Campus in Frenches.
As a result, an additional 140 had to be delivered to the event for members of the public who needed to purchase a copy.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Youth, Sports, Culture and Creative Industries Kaschaka Cupid, said the launch was not merely the unveiling of a book, but was also a noteworthy effort in the quest towards the restoration of a people’s memory.
“It is the reclaiming of our voice. It is the affirmation that our story- complex, painful, triumphant and enduring- is worthy of careful scholarship, dignified telling and permanent record.”
