Man beaten to death in Kingstown
A 63-year-old Redemption Sharpes man, who in 2019 accepted an offer to examine his common law’s wife private parts after accusing her of cheating, and then was jailed for beating her, was pummelled to death in Kingstown on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Bertram “Boy Blue” Wright, also known as “Black”, was discovered unresponsive in “China Town”, a popular hangout spot opposite the Central Police Station in Kingstown. His autopsy report stated that he died as a result of blunt force trauma to his head and body.
A Redemption Sharpes resident told SEARCHLIGHT that Wright was not known for being violent, but his name had surfaced in relation to several sexual offences in the past.
In 2019, Wright was sentenced to 12 months in prison, at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court after he was convicted of assault occasioning bodily harm. The court heard from Wright’s former girlfriend, a 53- year- old woman, who said that she was at work in Kingstown on April 20, 2019 when Wright started accusing her of having sexual intercourse with another man that morning. She said she went into the toilet and partially pull down her pants, saying that if he didn’t believe she had not cheated, then he should check her. Wright did check, using his fingers and apparently decided the woman was guilty.
An argument ensued, and the woman was beaten which resulted in a swollen eye and pain in her knee and other parts of her body.
Wright’s violent death marks the sixth homicide in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) for 2026. The Police said they are investigating.
