Opposition receiving a ‘tsunami of complaints from poor people’ – Gonsalves

LEADER OFTHE OPPOSITION, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, reported during his Wednesday morning February 25, 2026 talk-show, that he has been receiving over the last few weeks, “particularly over the last two or so “…a mountain of complaints from poor people”.

He said he had been getting reports, but it has since ballooned into “a tsunami of complaints from the poor”.

“They go to the ministries responsible for assisting the poor with welfare and family assistance.

They’re not getting it. I’d warned you about that. And some of the reports coming to me that employees … public employees, are telling the poor who come to them, ‘what are you coming for? Santa Claus not in power any more. Santa Claus is not in government any more, you know’.That’s what they’re saying.”
