Local fishers were ‘close’ to drone strike Commander Deon Henry
SEAFARERS, including fishermen are being urged to report suspicious activities while at sea, including the presence of go-fast boats/pirogues with high powered engines.
The request comes from Commander of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard (SVGCG), Deon Henry.
Commander Henry, speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, February 19, 2026 confirmed that a United States (US) drone strike killed three St. Lucians in waters off Canouan on Friday, February 13, 2026, and it happened close to Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs), at approximately 45 miles south east of mainland St. Vincent, and about 32 miles east of Canouan, placing it within the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
According to confirmed reports, at around 2:00 p.m. on that Friday February 13, the US military conducted a lethal drone strike in SVG’s waters. This was confirmed by a 8:37 p.m. U.S military Facebook post, and there was also a website post by the U.S. Southern Command stating, “On Feb. 13, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen.
