PM Friday used ChatGPT to write his budget speech – Gonsalves

OPPOSITION LEADER Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, said Prime Minister Dr. Godwin Friday has used ChatGPT to help write his 2026 Budget speech. ChatGPT is described as an advanced AI chatbot developed by OpenAI that simulates human conversation and generates text, code, and images in response to user prompts. Released in November 2022, it uses large language models to understand and generate natural language, making it a popular tool for writing, learning, and planning.

Delivering his response to the 2026 Budget last Tuesday, February 10, 2026 the Opposition Leader who rubbished Dr. Friday’s budget speech, said there were “internal contradictions and incoherence” in the presentation because the speech had at least four authors.

“I recognize. I listen very carefully to the language. He himself wrote a few parts of it- a small portion. Then there were two principal advisers who wrote most of it, I’m familiar with their writing. And, there was a non-human author called Chat GPT,” Dr. Gonsalves said in parliament.
