Woman said alleged mentally ill man kicked her in the back
A routine Monday morning turned into a traumatic ordeal for Ronika Medford, who said she was assaulted without provocation while walking to work.
Recounting the incident in a Facebook post on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Medford said as she was walking to catch public transportation when she encountered a man with whom she is familiar “acting strangely”.
She said after she declined his request for money, he made a bizarre comment but she paid him no mind and continued on her way. Moments later, she was kicked in her back resulting in injuries which she said have made it difficult to walk or sleep.
“He asked me for $2, and I told him that I do not have any money. As I was passing him, he then asked if I am the woman whose belly he chopped out the other day. At this point I realized that something was off about him and I left him talking to himself and continued about my way. While walking I felt a blow to my back… this man ran and jumped to kick me in my back… I fell to the ground and he turned back and went in the direction of which he came…,” Medford stated in her Facebook post.
She said she did nothing to provoke the attack.
“I have visible injuries on my body of which I will not post. As expected today, my entire body hurts, even my chest, and I did not sleep well. I cannot walk nor bend well. ”
