Questelles school to be rebuilt within three months
THE PORTION OF the Questelles Government School that was ravaged by fire on the afternoon of December 29, 2025 should be back in operation by April, 2026. This was the projection of Kem Bartholomew, CEO of the Roads, Buildings and General Services Authority (BRAGSA), that is charged with the rebuilding work.
Bartholomew said the reconstruction work is expected to be completed in three months. He explained that preliminary assessment indicates that while the roof which was made of timber was destroyed by the fire, the “front facade which is predominantly a stone wall structure,” was intact, and efforts will be made to maintain the historic context of the building while building it back better.
He said BRAGSA will work with the Ministry of Education to provide an environment which is safe and conducive for learning. The fire which quickly engulfed a section of the school destroyed classrooms for Grades 3 and 4 students, as well as the auditorium, and kitchen/ school feeding area.
Students in Grades 5 and 6 relocated to the
Campden Park Community Centre when they returned to school yesterday, January, 5 2026.
