Dr. Friday promises best practices in Parliament
PRIME MINISTER, Dr. Godwin Friday said his government is fully committed to upholding the Constitution of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in the House of Assembly while allowing best practices to guide the democratic processes when it comes to conducting the business of the people in Parliament.
“…as we proceed again to do the business of the people, this is a solemn trust that has been placed upon us.We do this not for ourselves or for our own glorification; we do this as we must, humbly accepting the trust that the people have placed within us and using our talents, our skills and experience for their benefit,” the prime minister said at the First Session of the Twelfth Parliament. This official opening witnessed the swearing-in of members of the House of Assembly, minus the Members of the Opposition, on December 23, 2025.
The Prime Minister who pledged principled leadership, humility in service, and unwavering respect for democratic institutions, acknowledged that the House of Assembly can be chaotic at times.
