Two lawyers named as Opposition Senators
THREE LAWYERS WILL make up the opposition in Parliament when the legislative body meets after today, December, 23 2025.
Yesterday, Monday, December 22, the opposition Unity Labour Party (ULP), announced that Carlos James, the party’s candidate in North Leeward, and Keisal Peters, the West Kingstown candidate, will be appointed as Opposition Senators.
Opposition Leader Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, revealed the names while delivering a Christmas message to the nation via Facebook.
The former prime minister, sitting on the veranda of his Gorse home, said he had advised the Governor-General, on the appointment of James and Peters.
Parliament meets today, Tuesday, December 23 for the first time since the November, 27 2025 general elections, and Dr. Gonsalves said Peters will not be able to attend as she is currently overseas with her mother, who is recovering from surgery in NewYork.
