National Security Minister says Dr. Gonsalves may not be entitled to state security
OPPOSITION LEADER and former Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Dr. Ralph Gonsalves may not be entitled to a security detail provided by the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), but the proper protocols are being investigated.
So stated Minister of National Security, Major St. Clair Leacock, on BOOM FM’s OMG in the Morning radio programme with Dwight ‘Bing’ Joseph.
“…my understanding is that for a short time- and I hope that by the weekend that has been trimmedbecause that conversation took place, he had a detail with as many as six policemen with that detail even including an inspector, he’s not entitled to that.
“He’s not entitled to that. Then the protocol that has to be confirmed is, that if an Opposition Leader is functioning and you’re still active in politics, you’re still politically active, you’re not entitled to that security blanket so he will have to make up his mind as to what degree of courtesy will be extended to him, Major Leacock stated.
