Young people ‘do not squander this opportunity’ – NDP PRO
THE YOUNG PEOPLE of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), are being urged to make full use of the opportunity presented to them on Thursday November 27, 2025 to go to cast their votes in the general elections.
This reminder came from Lavern King, public relations officer of the New Democratic Party (NDP), while speaking at the party’s youth rally in Owia on Saturday night.
“Do not squander this opportunity,” King warned, “This is the best opportunity that we have as a country to ensure that we change this government, so that you can get the benefits that you deserve.”
King told the gathering at the youth rally that on election day they have an option to either “choose to stick with those who are greedy and fulling their pockets and doing curry deals for themselves; or, you can vote for the New Democratic Party who will ensure that we put you first”.
She expressed concern over the plight of the young people, many of whom she said cannot afford to buy land or even build a home, and many do not even have as much as one thousand dollars in a bank account.
King charged that the Unity Labour Party is only working for themselves, King said, and endorsed Shevern John, the NDP’s candidate for the constituency of North Windward.
“ This is a woman who will work on your behalf,” King said, “this is a woman who is a pillar of integrity.”
King reminded the people of North Windward that during the volcanic eruptions and also since the passage of Hurricane Beryl, Shevern John is the person they saw.
“So when they come now, tell them they too late. You have in this constituency, a gem of a candidate,” King stated.
“If she is doing so much for you in opposition…I cannot imagine how much more she will do for you when she wins.”
The NDP PRO noted that Shevern John has seen the potential of the young people in North Windward, and she has a clear plan for them.
“This party is saying that we have a plan for you, to make sure that when we win, you win as well.”
