Now is not the time to experiment – Douglas
Member of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), Ian Douglas, son of former Prime Minister Rosie Douglas deceased, has urged the electorate in St Vincent and the Grenadines to return the Unity Labour Party of Dr. Ralph Gonsalves to office in the November 27, 2025 general elections.
He was speaking on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at the launch of the ULP manifesto at the Irvin Warrican Playing Field in Colonaire.
“The 27th of November, it will not be the time to experiment. Now is not the time to play with your future. The future of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is not lotto, brothers and sisters. You need men with experience at the helm, brothers and sisters. I know you have concerns. I know the rank and file have concerns, brothers and sisters, but it is better to stick with labour…because the future is brighter with the Unity Labour Party,” the young Douglas told the massive crowd at the rally, and those listening on other platforms.
Having already addressed a ULP public meeting at Fairhall and a ‘Red Lime’ at Byera on Friday night, November 14, 2025, the firebrand politician told his audience that November 27 is a day of reckoning.
“I come from Dominica, and on behalf of our leader, Comrade Roosevelt Skerritt and the Dominica Labour Party, I bring you greetings, brothers and sisters, from a sister labour party.”
He said St. Vincent and the Grenadines has shown regional and international leadership.
“The future of St Vincent and the Grenadines is in good hands under the Unity Labour Party. Over those years, you cannot deny that you have seen economic stability in St Vincent and the Grenadines. You have seen infrastructural development projects, including the international airport…brothers and sisters. The social projects like the education revolution in St. Vincent, and the Grenadines, so continuity and experience in government is important…continuity and experience in government is key…,” he added.
“A little country like St. Vincent and the Grenadines made it on to the Security Council of the United Nations under the great Comrade, Ralph Gonsalves, brothers and sisters.
“The amount of stress and economic hardship we have gone through. Who did you see after the volcano? after the hurricane?” he questioned.
“If you remember nothing else I have said tonight, let me leave this with you. All that glitters is not gold. All that glitters is not gold. Brothers and sisters, men like Moses was stuttering. Moses was a man who could not speak but God chose Moses to lead his people. When Moses went up to the mountain to get the Ten Commandments, his brother Aaron were with the people in the desert but God did choose Moses….
“God has given you in this nation a bunch of men of honesty, integrity, and commitment to lead St. Vincent and the Grenadines. So when you go to the polls on the 27th of November, keep labour … keep the Unity Labour Party in power.”
