Inmates with mental issues in third rehab initiative
A prison initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of National Security, through the Ministry of Legal Affairs, continues to engage prisoners with mental health issues in an effort at rehabilitation and improving mental health at His Majesty’s Prison (HMP).
The third event, geared at helping these inmates was held on Sunday November 9, 2025.
The event, a sip and paint initiative, saw inmates with psychological well being disparities engaging in painting on canvas, a way of expressing themselves.
Forensic psychiatrist, philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PraxTherapy, Dr. Enyinne Williams, who designed the programme, explained that the programme was implemented in an effort to look into the well-being of inmates with mental health challenges.
The first of these events was held on Saturday, September 25, 2025 in the form of an “anxiety party” in the yard of HMP, White Chapel Road, Kingstown; the second event was a small goal football match.
