Carlos James, reaffirms his commitment to North Leeward at Rose Hall meeting
Carlos James, the Unity Labour Party’s North Leeward candidate to contest the November 27, 2025 general elections, told supporters on Tuesday night that, “This general elections is going to be a test of our resilience, a test of our commitment, a test of our loyalty, a test of how we show love and appreciation to the people who have worked for you and continue to build St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and lifting it higher”.
James outlined the challenge at a meeting of the ULP along the Rosehall main road which attracted scores of supporters.
Speaking of his days growing up in the community, James recounted the various paths he traversed with his grandmother, individually, as well as with other youngsters, indicating his knowledge of the constituency, and stressing that anyone wanting to represent the people, would “have to know your constituency, and you have to know your people, and you have to know your community”.
He added,”My candidacy, my representation, and my re-election is nothing short of destiny, because it’s my commitment to you, the people of North Leeward.”

He told attendees it is the people with whom he grew up who helped shape his thinking, “…my purpose and my role in advancing the people and leading the people here in North Leeward… I’m here today to represent you. I want to tell you that my commitment to you, my continued work is a testimony of the relationship we have, our commitment and love to each other…and this relationship is unbroken…it’s unshaken…”.
James is seeking his second term as the parliamentary representative for North Leeward. He will contest against newcomer, Dr. Kishore Shallow of the New Democratic Party (NDP).
“It must be people first. It must be you, the people, who they want to represent and not their own self -interest,” James stressed at the meeting that was interspersed with entertaining music.
“You have to understand and appreciate that when you have love in your heart and you give your time, your resources, and your energy to this political process, you do it with a sense of love and appreciation, no questions asked, and you do it for the people… it is important to me and it is important to you.” Also addressing the meeting were fellow candidates, Dr. Orando Brewster (Central Leeward), and Luke Browne (East Kingstown).
