Chauncey/Kingstown man breaks into prison, gets one year jail time
A man from Chauncey and Kingstown who broke into His Majesty’s Prison and was trapped inside for approximately two hours after he was unable to escape, will spend the next year of his life behind bars.
Garnet Thomas appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Tammika McKenzie, on October 28, 2025 where he was charged that on October 20, 2025 at Belle Isle he entered upon the property of the Belle Isle Correctional Facility as a trespasser with intent to “introduce contraband” into the prison.
On October 19, 2025 at about 10:30 p.m First Class Prison Officer, Ashton, was in his office when officer Nedd reported to him that he saw a rope on the fence by the tower.
Officer Ashton summoned Officer Nedd and Officer Bobb to patrol around the fence and the tower. Officer Nedd then cut the rope and handed it to Officer Ashton.
