SVG will support Grenada’s decision on request for US military hosting
THE GOVERNMENT OF St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) will support whatever decision Grenada’s Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell makes in relation to a request by the United States of America (USA) to install radar equipment and technical personnel at the Maurice Bishop International Airport (MBIA).
This was made clear by Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 during a press conference at the Modern Kingstown Port in the presence of Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Philip J. Pierre, and Dominica’s Prime Minister Rosevelt Skerritt.
The Prime Minister’s comments came a week after Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders met with PM Mitchell to discuss the USA’s request which is being seen by many as a precursor to more activities that have as the final aim, a military strike against Venezuela and its president, Nicolas Maduro.
On Wednesday in Kingstown, Dr. Gonsalves described the issue as a matter of great sensitivity.
