More opportunities for farmers, fisherfolk from Sandals’ latest investment
Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, says farmers and fishers are set to benefit tremendously from the latest Sandal Investment in this country.
In his address at the signing ceremony of the agreement for the construction of Sandals Beaches Resort on Monday, October 6, 2025, Dr. Gonsalves pointed out that in the agreement between the Government and Sandals, there must be the purchase of locally produced agricultural goods and seafood of the required quality.
“The agreement mandates that Beaches procure locally produced agricultural goods and seafood from Vincentian farmers, fisherfolk and businesses, subject to the availability and quality required by the hotel….”
“Farmers and fisherfolk, don’t let anybody tell you any lie,” the Prime Minister stressed.
Dr. Gonsalves also stressed that the concessions which Sandals will receive are identical to that provided to Vincentian companies which invest in hotel/guest houses of 50 rooms or more.
The $500-million Sandals Beaches Resort will be built at Mt Wynne. It will contain 500 rooms and is expected to provide employment to around 2- thousand Vincentians at full capacity. (API)
