Maduro says Venezuelans are calm, but ready to defend themselves
DESPITE THE PRESENCE of warships from the United States of America on its doorsteps, and at least one nuclear submarine, life goes on as usual in Venezuela.
But that does not mean that Venezuelans are not ready to defend themselves, says president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicholas Maduro, who on September 15,2025, during an online press conference, urged the regional and international media to always seek out and show the truth, therefore maintaining ethical behaviour.
“…as members of the media, you need to have the ethical attitude of showing the truth about a country, in particular, a country like Venezuela.
“Venezuela today is waging this major warfare for truth…in order to win peace, to preserve peace…,” Maduro said in the press conference that was attended online by more 170 media professionals, including from SEARCHLIGHT.
Stressing that the truth is sometimes different and complex but must always be shared, Maduro said Venezuela is being threatened by warships, a nuclear submarine and threats to bombard and occupy the country.
Several weeks ago, the United States of America deployed a fleet of warships in the Caribbean sea off Venezuela. President, Donald Trump said the move is to combat drug trafficking. In the process, the US administration said its military has made three strikes on vessels they claim were carrying illegal drugs from Venezuela, killing all those on board. The legality of the operation is being questioned by several countries.
